Sheepcote
Fine but sunless day. Busy morning getting meat pies, and final preparations for going over to Wenham with Alice. Anne took her to the station in Jimbo's pram. I followed in Tils' car with her luggage. She was very good in the train (her first experience) and Bet and Awly met us with a car at Colchester, and we arrived at Great Wenham Hall at about 4 o'clock.
I was greatly taken with the house and garden. It is very attractive and homey, and the house is wonderfully comfortable already. Great possibilities in the garden, and there is a delightful farm next door which will be a great asset for Hester.
We rang up Anne, and Bet had telephone calls from Denis and Pippa.
