An unpleasant windy day.
Grattan came out in the afternoon to fetch his uniform. He had walked to Gosfield from Braintree and arrived at 3 o'clock and had to leave again at 3.30.
I gave him a cold lunch - also the announcement in today's Times of the birth of their daughter which he took back for Anne to see. He says she and the baby are doing first rate.
