Sheepcote
I got up for breakfast and feel quite all right again.
The siren went during the night, and there were a lot of planes overhead and I've heard on the wireless that about 60 enemy planes had been over the outskirts of London, but mostly turned back on meeting our very heavy barrage.
News in the evening that the siege of Leningrad has been raised.

Sarah comments:
Gran's diaries give glimpses of what was going on in The War, but also I think they are quite an important record of how people carried on at home. References to air-raid, bombs etc but also all the adults doing quite a lot of travelling, entertaining etc.
