Sheepcote
A very lovely day. Mrs Smith went up to town by the 9 o'clock train. Mabel and I went to morning service at St Nicholas. Special thanksgivings for the victory in Tunisia.
After lunch Anne, Grattan, Nanny and myself with Sarah Catherine drove in Tils's car to Braintree for the christening. Sarah C looked charming in Awly's robe - pale pink tied with blue ribbon.
The godparents, none of whom were present, are Denis Capel-Dunn, Colonel Lewer, Marjorie Mayhew (Mrs) and Grattan's unmarried sister. On our return we drank S's health in sherry glasses of champagne.
