Elmhurst Farm
We lunched at a little restaurant in Horsham (Kim) where Reg had some shopping to do. Bram rang up from Troughend (back from France) to ask the Trustees' permission to rent their house, as he wanted to rent one in Yorkshire and move up there next month.
Friday, 14 August
Started for Lee-on-Solent soon after 10 o'clock and reached Medows (?) soon after 12 o'clock. Met by Joan and Aline who showed me over house and garden before our aperitif which Reg had provided. Everything awfully well arranged and indeed opulent, and the garden brilliant. After lunch and a rest we had tea in the beach hut and watched Joan bathe.
