Week of 26 July 1954

Wednesday, 28 July

47 Hamilton Terrace - Elmhurst Farm

Busy morning packing and putting away silver. Nicky turned up for an early lunch before going to CH via her dentist. I caught the 3.18 to Horsham where Reg met me. A gale blowing and downpours at intervals! Saw the news bulletin at the "Savoy", then rested before our aperitif in the drawing room. Very nice supper and talk andearly to bed. Great welcome as always.

Elmhurst Farm

Drove with Reg to Billingshurst for chicken etc.

Horrie was here. Rested in the afternoon and walked round garden with Reg and picked a few stray broad beans which we had for supper.

Sunday, 1 August

Fine day. Pippa and Pounce came over about 12 o'clock and brought me back to CH for lunch. Sat out during afternoon and watched P and O work in the garden. Reg came over to tea. Nell Todd, the art mistress was there. The "children" went to Horsham for tennis. A nice aperitif with Reg in the drawing room.
