Week of 27 December 1954

Monday, 27 December

47 Hamilton Terrace

Mabel slept here

A lovely day but I am ashamed to say that neither Mabel nor I left the house till after tea when we walked up to my church and sat there for a while. In spite of good nights we both felt very tired and rather low. Spent part of the day in writing thank-you letters.

Wednesday, 29 December

Awly rang up from the War Office and arranged that she and James should come this eveningand give me the news. Later Pont rang up to ask to see me and came along at 3 o'clock and stayed 45 minutes. Awly and James came in for about half an hour in the evening - both of them tired.
