Week of 7 February 1955

Monday, 7 February

47 Hamilton Terrace

Tried in vain for a taxi to take Awly to Marylebone so she had to go by a later train. Hester was meeting her at Aylesbury.

Tuesday, 8 February

I went to the Imperial Institute to some Pakistani paintings by children, some of them from Lawrence College where Oswald is going.

Wednesday, 9 February

Bet and Awly arrived independently in the morning - they met Mrs MacLachlan at the RC church at Lisson Grove, and all three came back for the very nice lunch Clara had ready for us. It was the first time I had met Mrs MacLachlan and I greatly like her. Later we all went down to 58A Fulham Rd, the flat James is taking. Awfully nice. Bet and Awly came back here but A had to dash off to Notley. Bet stayed on and caught the 7.30 train to Stowmarket. We had a very useful and interesting talk
