Sheepcote
Anne had a fair night's sleep and came down to breakfast this morning, looking marvellously well and soon afterwards Tils Smith drove us to the Maternity Block of Courtauld Hospital. She has a nice room there and I liked the sister. Stayed about half an hour and then came home.
Got a wire from Lyd before lunch to say that Wilma's operation had been very successful and in the evening Pips and Oswald spoke to me on the phone and told me that the surgeon said Wilma was well rid of her appendix which was in a bad state.
I rang up Braintree Hospital several times and heard that Anne's pain was not making much progress but the doctor was satisfied. Grattan rang up several times for news.
