Week of 8 August 1949

Monday, 8 August

47 Hamilton Terrace

A long and very exciting phone talk from Anne and Bram. I felt Soneryl was indicated and took 2 tablets with very good results.

Tuesday, 9 August

A lovely morning. I felt a strong urge to get away and change the atmosphere. So I took the Water Bus from Charing X to Putney - lunched at the Star and Garter by the waterside (not much of a place) and got home in time for tea. The view of the Houses of Parliament, etc. from the river is magnificent, but the trip was rather spoilt by queues both ends.

Wednesday, 10th August

Bram and Anne rang up again after supper - so terribly happy they don't know what to do about it and they will get married as soon as ever they can get a boat on the Broads for their week's honeymoon.

Saturday, 13 August

I rang up Anne. Bram answered as usual! They had the Holgates in for a drink. They are going to get married next Friday! I am going down on Thursday and will go with them to the Colchester Registry Office. His mother may be there too.
