Week of 19 September 1949

Monday, 19 September
47 Hamilton Terrace
Bet and Alice slept here
Pips, Nicky, Bet and Alice all arrived in time for lunch. Pips saw Nicky off at Paddington by the 2.15 train for her first term. Bets and Alice went with them and they all shopped together afterwards, coming back for tea after which Pips went off to catch the 5.30 train home. I then went up to Cricklewood garage to try and retrieve my new shopping back left with mushrooms in No. 16 bus. No luck. Then Rose Richardson turned up and we stayed on the loggia till supper time.
Tuesday, 20 September
Bet slept here
Bet and Alice left at 11 o'clock and called on AM before going to Walton St where they were being driven down to Alice's school.
Bet got back for a late supper. She had left Alice at Goodings. Rather weepy but Bet was delighted with the school.
Thursday, 22 September
47 Hamilton Terrace - Bacton
Met Mabel and Ellen at Liverpool St station and caught the 12.30 train to N Walsham which we reached at 4 o'clock in pouring rain. We were rather horrified at Miss ?'s bungalow at first sight but it is not really bad, though very ugly. Ellen cooked a nice supper and is most efficient and we went to bed early.
Friday, 23 September
25 Seaview, Bacton
In the afternoon we took a 4 o'clock bus to Mundesley which we greatly enjoyed. Mabel hired a bike for Ellen and she went to Cromer on it.
Sunday, 25 September
We walked to morning service at St Andrew's church. Paddled in the afternoon.
