Hester slept here

Hester and I shopped in the morning and got Awly a nice birthday frock. I did not go out again but she met Julie Guyatt and a school friend at Leicester Square and saw the Danny Kaye film The Inspector General which they greatly liked. They came back for supper which they prepared themselves as Hildegard had gone to Hamlet.

Sunday, 23 April

I dod not go to church but came down and sowed parsley seed in the garden after tea. Hildegard took a Norwefgian friend to Kew Gardens but it was too cold to be pleasant.

Sarah's birthday. She is 7 and I rang her up to give her my good wishes. Anne off colour with neuralgia. They have bought a 20 year old Austin at the market!!
