Alice arrived after 11 and Awly soon afterwards. She had loved the CH dance. They both went down by the 4.54 train to Halesworth - a very nice-looking CH boy saw them off to the station. Enid came to tea. Old Mrs Howson brought a suitcase of wine for Pont.

Mabel slept here
I went to church but Mabel did not feel up to it. I did not go out of doors at all. Erica? lit up her little Christmas tree and we gave her her presents. She was rather homesick till Swiss Betty came round and cheered her up.
