Week of 25 December 1950

Monday, 25 December

47 Hamilton Terrace

Mabel slept here

Dry, cold and rather foggy. Mabel went to the 9.30 Communion and St Martin's and stayed for the second service, returning in time for lunch quite exhausted. I went to both services at St John's.

Erica? lunched with us. Quite a passable meal! Mabel and I had our presents afterwards and then we all three listened to the King.

Tuesday, 26 December

Mabel slept here

After lunch Mabel and I went to the Piccadilly Theatre to see His Excellency - Reggie's present to me. We were both disappointed and could not hear very well from the 9th row.

Thursday, 28 December

Many letters including one from Bet to say Alice had been in Halesworth Hospital for the past week with ear trouble, but had had the time of her life and was returning tomorrow.

Saturday, 30 December

I lunched with Lil and met the Hagerdorns - very pleasant and heard a lot about the room they are going to let to Hester and Susan. Stayed with Lil till after tea and saw a glimpse of the very nice-looking lodger, Miss Gas, who is moving into the room next week.
