Wednesday, 4 April
I met Alice at Paddington at 12.45 and Hester turned up a few minutes later with "Nigel", the CH farm student. They went off to lunch and a film before seeing Alice off to Walton on the Naze. Hester told me that the Farm Sale yesterday realised more than they had hoped for.
Thursday, 5 April
Hester turned up about 7 o'clock. She had been to the Inter Publis School seven-a-side at Richmond and has seen CH win. She felt very tired as there had been very little sleep for this past week.
Friday, 6 April
Hester rang me up this evening and told me that Madame Sorel had taken her on and she was to start work on Monday week.
