I received a letter from Dr Gossip this evening, enclosing the prescription I had asked for but saying that "I do not wish to act as a sort of inferior clerk to another doctor. I am asking the Executive Council to remove your name from my list". So what?
Thursday, 29 March
My birthday, 75 years old. Many family letters and a greetings wire from Reg, and a phone from Pont. The farm contract still not signed, though the sale is advertised for next Tuesday. Very disquieting!
Friday, 30 March
I rang up Bet and heard to my great relief that the farm contract is signed at last. Alice is staying a little longer at Studley.
