Week of 17 September 1951

Wednesday, 19 September

47 Hamilton Terrace

Nicky came to lunch with me - very nice and blooming - and I saw her off at Paddington at 2.16 for Cheltenham.

Saturday, 22 September

Wilma turned up for lunch and we had a very happy four hours, mostly on the loggia and in the garden. She looked well but tired. She left at 5 o'clock to catch the train to Newhaven where she was meeting Nora Gallop for their fortnight's motoring trip in France.

Later Erna and I went to the Albert Hall for the Last Night of the Proms. An amazing evening of mass hysteria, balloons, streamers. Enid, Mabel and Geraldine Noyes shared Alice Parson's box with us.

Sunday, 23 September

The King was operated on this morning.
