Week of 8 October 1951

Monday, 8 October

47 Hamilton Terrace

I rested during the afternoon and then went to the Arts Theatre for the Apollo Society recital. After a bad beginning (muddle over seats) I had a delightful evening. Peggy Ashcroft, Alec Clunes and Angus Morrison, pianist. A very finished and artistic programme. Listened to Winston Churchill on my return.

Friday, 11 October

47 Hamilton Terrace - Beatrice Webb House

I caught the 4.18 train to Dorking and then went up in a private bus to Pasture Wood where the Iona Conference is being held. I have a nice room with a lovely view. Interesting lectures by Eric and Joseph McCullough.
