Week of 4 February 1957

Monday, 4 February
Bet and Pont slept here
I shopped locally in the morning and in the afternoon went down to the Map Shop in St James's Street and bought a lovely atlas as Mabel's belated Xmas present. Bet and Pont were out till teatime. He had been to the W.O. Nothing doing yet. In the evening they went over to drinks with Awly and James. The first meeting. It seems to have gone all right.
Tuesday, 5 February
Bet and Pont slept here
Pont went to Stanmore to a branch of the W.O. and came back very cheered at the possibility of being attached to a tank regiment at Catterick due to go to Germany this autumn. This would suit beautifully for their plans, but of course is only a possibility.
A very happy letter from Pips from Las Palmas. Bet and I had a nice tête à tête this evening as Pont went out.
Wednesday, 6 February
Bet and Pont shopped at Sainsbury in morning and came back for soup before starting for Liverpool St station armed with sandwiches. I think they are both in good spirits.
Friday, 8 February
Maud Wethered came for elevenses, and after an early lunch I went to Harrods for a manicure and then on to tea with Enid.
