Week of 19 October 1959

Monday, 19 October
47 Hamilton Terrace
A short and restless night but I was up betimes to look after the two misses. Hester brought them round before going to her secretarial course. Louise much better though looking pale and peaky. Both children very good. Sigrid came round later to fetch them. Ina and I both rather taken aback by her appearance - definitely tart-like!

Tuesday, 20 October
Went to market in morning and laid in foods for supper. Nicky late in returning from House of Lords And Libby Mors? had already rung up to know if she was expected so Nicky went straight to fetch her in Hampstead on her Lambretta, so supper (in the dining room) was much delayed and stew overcooked!
We had finished when Hester arrived for drnk and coffee. Patience rang up and they had a long talk about flats. They will both lunch here next Tuesday. Then Nicky took Libby back to Hampstead and Hester and Woof departed, and I went to bed - as usual overtired!

Friday, 23 October
Fine autumn day; lunched at home. Heard from Miss Webb (CMS) Off! So what. The good Nicky had got the supper on and all was well. Phoned Pips as Nicky can catch a 12.30 train to Great Bedwyn tomorrow.

Saturday, 24 October
Nicky departed at 9am. Lunched with Huss and family. Turkey!! Felt very favourably impressed by Sigrid [but I thought she was a tart?]
